My sister had a lot of extra yarn from old projects. A friend told her about this charity called Project Linus: http://www.projectlinus.org/. So far they have over 1.8 million blankets donated for children. My sister says they are easy and quick to make, especially by crochet, as the size is 36"x36". Generally, that's about 8-9 ounces of yarn.

What a great idea. Many of us love to crochet but have family that are all stocked up with blankets and afghans
