Valentine's Day Gift

Give him a gift he really wants

Face it. Men do not get into the cute Valentine stuff. So what do you give a man for Valentine's Day that he will really like?

I have given this a lot of thought and spoke to a number of men about what they really would like to receive. There are all sorts of projects out there to make a heart pillow or lacy card with a heart that will pop up and say "I Love You". This does not excite a man. Try some of the ideas listed below and see if you don't get a very happy man this year.

For the fisherman-

Buy a heart-shaped box of candy. Open it and get rid of the candy. This isn't usually a problem. Now tape a fishing lure into each of the paper cups and tape them into the box so they don't roll around.

For the hunter-

Buy a gun cleaning kit and wrap it up in red paper and put a big gaudy heart on it. You want him to think it will be another talking frog or underwear with hearts all over it. He will be doubly pleased.

For the car guy-

Buy the heart shaped box of Mrs. Fields cookies. It is a deep tin. Fill it with wrenches and car stuff. He may ask where the cookies went. You're on your own with that part.

For the computer geek-

Buy the stuffed animal you know he will cringe at. This is not meant to make him crazy. It is meant to surprise him. Now open up the back and get rid of the stuffing. (You may want to make sure it is filled with polyfill as opposed to very messy pellets.)

Now you need to purchase blank discs, canned air, and any other gadgets that he would like. Fill the inside of the stuffed animal with these items and baste it shut. You can have a lot of fun with this one.

You get the idea. It doesn't matter what he's into, give him a gift that supports his passions and do it in a fun and creative way. He will always remember that Valentine.

Cynthia Richardson-El Habti :
I really like the ideas that where posted for the gifts for him. You are absolutely right that men are not into all of the cute stuff for Valentine's Day. I try year after year to get my husband something that he will actually enjoy for Valentine's Day. I did find some useful items that I posted on http://giftwrapandmore.com/tag/family/gift-ideas/valentines-day/ I would also like to hear comments from any men out there of some items that they personally would like to receive. Come on guys help us gals out if you really want to start getting the things that you like. :)

My husband is of the opinion that if there is something you want, tell him and he will get it. If there is something he wants, he will never ask. It is not what a man does. I do know that if the gift is practical, he enjoys it more and it is more apt to get used as opposed to put in a drawer. Gift cards to the hunting, fishing or auto store are always good as well as gift cards for car washes and gas.
