You be the Author

Book Making

We talk a lot about making books and journals.

We make books for children, books for gifts, books to celebrate our relationship like an enhanced greeting card.

What about writing your own book for you. We do so many crafts with others in mind it seems odd almost to think of doing a book just for ourselves.

All of us have special talents and experiences that make our knowledge base and perception different from everyone else. Some have education while some people have innate skills and talents.

What I suggest is that you write a book all about what makes you passionate. If you are really into sewing write down your knowledge. Include how you came by it and all of the projects you do. Think how invaluable this will be for the next generations. But that isn't the purpose. This book is for you to be an author for your own self gratification.

You will surprise yourself with how much information you hold.

Your book itself can be as fancy or as simple as you want. Staple blank sheets of paper together or make a really elaborate journal. You can even use an old book and write in all the white spaces. Add snips of ribbon and yarn with different papers and really get creative.

This one is for you. Make it so it pleases you even if no one ever sees it but you. It is simply to give you the pride in your accomplishment.
