Fake pumpkins can be a great way to personalize your Halloween decor.

Have you seen those fake carvable pumpkins available in stores?

I first saw them a few years ago and thought they were a cute but pricey for a piece of painted foam. Last year after the holiday I happened to be in a store when they were 90% off. I love 90% off. I was able to get multiple $16.00-29.00 items for 16-29 cents.

I have been giving a lot of thought as to what I want to carve. Then I thought doing each person in my family on a pumpkin would be nice but I want the children to be on smaller pumpkins.

The craft store carried them but I didn’t have the foresight when they were 90% off to buy these so it would mean paying about $10.00 each now. They are fake pumpkins for goodness sake. I ended up finding more realistic small foam pumpkins in of all places, the dollar store for $1.00 each. In this way I could carve my husband and I in a large pumpkin and carve a small pumpkin with each of the children’s names.

No matter how big they get, this will still be something we would want to use through the years.

When you get ideas look around for the deals too. Crafts are such a wonderful opportunity for all of us to express ourselves creatively but we can easily spend way too much money. Shop your craft stores after the holidays and be prepared to store items for a year before you can use them. You can really save a lot of money by thinking ahead.
