Making Puzzles

This is a fun idea for adults or children alike. It is recommended for use with a small gathering because of the time commitment it would take for a large group.

For each guest or couple, purchase a child’s 25-50 piece puzzle. You can get these at the dollar store to save money.

Directions will be for making one puzzle. The idea is to make one for each guest or couple.

Materials Needed:

  • Puzzle
  • Photo of guest
  • Computer
  • Scanner or digital camera
  • Printer
  • Spray mount adhesive
  • Exacto knife
  • Magazines
  • Little gift bag
  • Decorative tissue paper
  • Ribbon

If you already have photos of the guests who are attending you are ahead of the game. If not, you need to either scan photos or take pictures of the invited guests. It works great if its family or close friends because you can even print off pictures of your guests when they were much younger or in embarrassing moments.

Print the photo the size of the puzzle. You may need to print off different parts of the photo at a time to make it large enough.

Assemble the store bought puzzle.

Trim the photos so there is no white border. Spray the back of the photos with the adhesive and carefully lay them on the puzzle. Press down firmly all over.

Flip puzzle over onto the old magazines. These are just to protect the table surface. Now using the exacto, cut out the puzzle pieces. Put the puzzle into onto a piece of tissue paper and bundle up. Insert tissue into small gift bag and tie with a bow.

Use these for table place cards or you could incorporate this into a game by giving a timed race to assemble and use even larger puzzles. Use at a bridal shower with one large puzzle of the couple or a baby shower with a photo of mom's belly. Hve fun with it.
