Designer Bags on a Budget

I was looking at beaded bags the other day. While they aren't something I would usually need, I found they were really beautiful in their intricacy.

As with everything, they got me thinking. Could I make one myself? We have a daughter getting married in the fall who is going be using nontraditional colors for the wedding. I would never find a bag in the colors she is using so I thought maybe I could make one myself for her as a momento of her wedding. The design could be customized to celebrate her and her fiance and be specific to them.

The first step was finding the hardware. I have never seen the framework in one of my craft stores so I began looking on the internet and hit the jackpot. UMX, Inc. sells the frames, chains, hooks for chains, handles, clasps and anything else you can think of. Click on the link for UMX to see for yourself. Their prices are very reasonable.

These bags are not just for weddings. They are for any special occasion and can be made to accent any dress. Make them for gifts or even to sell at your local craft fair.

This week watch for the project instructions for making your own beaded evening bag. I will give you directions as I work on my own project. That way if you have any questions or concerns you can e-mail me and we can work through it together.
