Summer makes an entrance

Well summer is finally officially here. With each change of season seems to comes a switch to a different realm of craft projects.

If we look at the seasons in terms of age, spring would be birth and infancy, summer would celebrate childhood and youth, autumn is representative of adulthood and winter is synonymous with the aged. We can also correlate the seasons to crafting.

Spring

In the spring color becomes the emphasis and with that the renewal of all of the plants and flowers. Spring cleaning is like giving yourself a chance to begin again, a rebirh of sorts. I love to do remodeling and redesigning rooms in the spring. It gives new life to a tired space and makes everything fresh again.

Summer

In looking at summer as the childhood and youth we think of being outdoors. Nature crafts and garden art are fun directions. In following Spring with all of its new life, we think of baby showers and wedding showers and all of the projects they entail.

Autumn

In the fall we are preparing for the holidays and our crafts tend to be gift related or decorative. They may range from thanksgiving to Christmas but it is also the busiest craft time. In the autumn of life, as a parallel we are taking care of the responsibility of adulthood.

Winter

In winter we do a lot of indoor projects. We especially enjoy projects that help warm us as we work. Who doesn’t love to crochet an afghan while it grows bigger and warms their lap and legs as they proceed.

It is always fun to begin again in a new season and explore what new ideas have hatched.
