scrapbooking techniques for gift wrapping

Do you have a gift to wrap that needs that extra special touch? Here is just the ticket. The wrap will be kept longer than the gift.

Isn't it amazing when you think of the money and effort that goes into gift wrap and all we do is throw it away. I have an idea for you that will have the recipient treasuring the wrap more than the gift. I am providing a step by step but feel free to add your own flair. I am using the scrapbooking supplies from the Imagination Project. I will tell you exactly what I am using so you can find the same items at the website provided.

I will be using pieces from several lines they carry. They include:

His Christmas wish

Clark's Christmas

Reindeer games

Sweater Weather

Rings-Christmas

What we are going to do is essentially, use the top of the box to create a scrapbook page that is about the person receiving the gift or about us together. Say I am going to give a gift to my sister. I will wrap the box in dark green paper. Now I will set that aside for the moment.

Using the His Christmas Wish paper named Ralphie's secret decoder and from the Reindeer games set, the paper named Trees for Comet, I am going to put the papers together and run the rotary cutter across both at an angle. Take the top piece from one side and the bottom piece from the other side. They should fit together exactly no matter what your cut.

I am adhering them to a plain piece of scrapbooking paper so they can be easily removed to save. In the design Sweater Weather there are a set of borders. I will take the red argyle border and hide the seam where the two papers meet. Cut the scrapbook page you are making to the size of the top of your package.

Now I pick two or three pictures that really show the relationship between myself and my sister. For you this can be your friend, mother, child, etc. In the design Reindeer games there is a paper named Vixen stripes. Using my rotary cutter, I am going to make frames for the chosen photos and attach them to the paper.

Note: I have not attached the paper to the box yet.

Go to the Rings-Christmas. These are perforated rings in various sizes that have the perfect holiday sayings. I am going to punch out two large rings and using thick double sided tape attach them to the paper so they are raised up above it.

Next punch out two medium rings and using three layers of double sided tape attach those into the center of the two rings. Using two of the smallest rings I am going to attach them to the center of the circles using two layers of double sided tape.

Repeat this using a couple that are medium and small only.

In the Clark's Christmas set there is a set of squares that all have Christmas sayings that are great for anyone you know. They have everything from "Naughty or Nice" to "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generousity and devotion exists*". Pick one or two that really express your relationship. Attach those to the paper overlapping the photo slightly. You can also cut a hole in them and attach using a brad.

If your package is large enough, there are some coordinating letters that can be used to spell our the name of the person who is to receive the gift.

Once you are done attaching brads, you can attach the page to the package. Make sure it can be removed. Either use a cheetah adhesive or rolled masking tape.

Most of all have fun.
