Keep the kids busy making crafty items to celebrate love, romance, friendship with this easy to create item.

Valentine day is a day to celebrate love, romance, friendships. And it is also a day to get crafty and use the imagination. This is a fun and kid friendly project everyone can really get involved with and have lots of family holiday fun. This would be easy for family fun or a school craft project. This pink heart pillow is a very easy item to sew. And it is advised that younger children have their parents or an adult supervise or lend a helping hand when crafting this scented pillow.

Items Needed

  • 2 pieces of pink felt fabric
  • Fabric glue
  • Beads, sequins, fabric paint to decorate the pillow
  • Needle and thread
  • Pillow stuffing
  • Scented potpourri
  • Crafting paper

Instructions:

  1. Freehand draw a large size heart on a white sheet of 8 by 10 crafting paper. Don’t worry if the drawing is not perfect. This will be the template for the Scented Pink Pillow Valentine Project.
  2. Next, Cut the heart out of the paper very carefully. Little one's should let older siblings or parents cut out the heart for safety reasons. Or use special craft scissors made especially for younger children. These are available at most craft stores everywhere. Place the heart template on the pink felt fabric. Cut out twolarge hearts for each of the pillows that will be made. And place them aside. These will be used later.
  3. Now, it's time for the real fun to begin for all. Use the fabric glue to decorate the felt hearts with any sequins, loose jewels, sparkles even colorful buttons that might be around the house. Get creative and let the kids use their imagination. Use red fabric paint to draw the initials of the one who will receive the gift on the pink felt fabric center. Use plain or fancy print to draw the initials.
  4. After the fabric paint and glue is completely dry, use a plain running stitch with red thread to sew the two hearts together along the fabric edges.. Leave about a 2" or 3" opening to stuff the pillow with any left over fabric scraps or cotton stuffing easily found at most fabric stores. This is also the time to add a handful of scented potpourri. Use your favorite scents. Shake pillow and smooth when filled. Once the pillow is stuffed sew up the opening with the thread. and tie and knot securely so that it will not unravel.

Kids might want to use the pillow in their bedrooms, on a couch, give to friends, parents, grandparents. Makes a delightfully scented heartfelt gift for those of any age on Valentines Day.
