Today we are going to look at decorations that celebrate snow.

The second best thing about these decorations is the ease and fun in making them. The best part is how great they look when you are done. If you want to make the tree skirt simply click here to be taken to that article.

Fur Snowballs

Materials Needed:

  • 1 yard of white fake fur
  • Plastic ornaments
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue with sticks
  • Tape measure
  • Blue ribbon

Measure your ornament from top to bottom along the curve of it. Cut a piece of fur the length of your ornament by 1 1/2 inches wide. It should look like a rectangle. Now at one end find the center. Cut from just to the right of center up to the middle of the length rounding as you go. Repeat on the left side and then flip the fabric over and repeat on the other end. Repeat for about six pieces. You may need to cut a few more pieces depending on the size of your ornament. The pieces will need to be trimmed occasionally as you go, that's all right.

Begin hot gluing the fur onto the plastic balls leaving the loop accessible. Glue the fur all the way around. Add a Blue ribbon to the top.

Snowball ornament

Materials needed:

  • Plastic ornaments
  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • Batting
  • Clear glitter

Open the batting into something closely resembling a sheet. Hot glue the batting onto the plastic ball. It is fine to bunch the batting here and there so it is not so symmetrical. Snowballs are not all identical in real life so giving them some differences is fine. Sprinkle on top with clear glitter. Shake over a cookie sheet to remove excess.

Icicles

Materials Needed:

  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • String
  • Stick
  • Box at least 12 “ deep
  • Scissors

For this project you will use lots of glue sticks but little else.

Cut string pieces 16” long. Tie a loop on the top that will allow for the icicle to be put on the tree. Slide the string loops onto the stick. Prop the stick between two boxes or book stacks so that the strings hang freely. Cover the area beneath the strings. Make sure there is about four inches between each string. From above drip hot glue onto the strings. Move onto the next while the first one is hardening. It goes fast because the glue dries so fast.

You can use the hot glues that have glitter right in them if you choose.

When your icicles are as long and thick as you intended, slide it off of the stick. You can add a bow by using soft blue netting tied on top.

Tree topper

Materials needed

  • Styrofoam 12” x12”x 2”
  • Exacto knife
  • Spray paint
  • Silver pipe cleaners (optional)
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Emery board
  • Wooden spoon

Fold your paper into eights and cut out the traditional snowflake. Use the snowflake as a pattern on the styrofoam block. Trace around with your pen. Using an Exacto blade cut out the snowflake. Smooth the edges with your emery board. When you have it exactly like you want it, you can spray paint it white. If you prefer you can add clear or silver glitter sprinkled on top. Use the handle of your wooden spoon to poke an opening for the top branch to be pushed into. You can add a large bow just below it with soft blue netting if you choose.
