No Halloween décor is complete without creepy crawly spiders. Here are some easy ways to help save the environment and add a bit of flair to your holiday. Get the whole family together for an entertaining and education project.

Recycled Egg Carton Spiders

No need to throw away those old egg cartons. Create a creepy Halloween craft with your family that is both entertaining and educational. Save the planet together with this simple project.

Supplies Needed To Make A Recycled Egg Carton Spiders

  • Empty egg carton
  • Black paint
  • Paint brush
  • Wiggle eyes
  • Black pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Phillips head screwdriver (optional)
  • Craft glue

Cut the egg carton up into individual egg holder sections. You will have twelve sections from one carton. Paint each egg section black and allow the paint to dry. If making multiple spiders, paint all egg sections at once.

Once the spider bodies are dry, poke four holes on each side of the painted egg holder. Try to line the holes up so they are directly across from one another. You can use the end of a pair of scissors for this or a Phillips-head screwdriver. Be sure to leave enough space between holes so they do not overlap.

Feed a pipe cleaner through a hole on one side to a hole on the opposite side and bend the “legs” to create two spider legs. Repeat this process for the remaining holes, creating four legs on each side.

Glue a pair of wiggle eyes on the front of the spider and you are done!

Recycled Soda Cap Spider

This project works with soda caps, water bottle caps or even milk jug caps. Recycle these old bottle caps and turn them into scary Halloween spiders to decorate for you holiday celebration.

Supplies Needed To Make A Recycled Soda Cap Spider

  • Soda cap
  • Black and red paints
  • Paint brush
  • Black pip cleaners
  • Craft glue

Rinse out caps with water to remove any residue. Paint the cap inside and out with black paint and allow it to dry.

Bend a center section of four black pipe cleaners to form a small section that can be pushed up into the cap opening and glued in place. These will be your eight spider legs. Once glued down, bend the outer parts of the pipe cleaners so they look like spider legs.

Then, take the end of your paintbrush and dip it into the red paint. Press the paint onto the front of the cap to make two spider eyes. Place your tiny spiders around the house as a creepy decoration.

Happy Green Halloween!
