Recycled Halloween Crafts – Bat ThemeEnvironmentally Friendly Crafts For Kids And Adults
Make scary Halloween decor without scaring the environment. These projects are fast, easy and educational.
Entertain and educate your family all at the same time by making environmentally friendly Halloween crafts together. Decorate in “green” fashion by using common household products. These crafts are easy, fast and loads of fun! Egg Carton BatTurn trash into treasure using empty egg cartons. Create spooky Halloween critters to hang around the house or on your front porch to greet Trick or Treater’s. Supplies Needed To Make A Recycled Egg Carton Bat
Start by cutting the egg carton into four pieces, with each piece having three egg holders in a straight line across. Cut out the wings of each section by cutting an upside down “V” shape upwards and into each end egg holder section. Repeat the “V” cut on the back side as well. Paint the bats black on all sides and allow to dry. Once dry, poke two small holes side by side into the top center of the middle egg holder section (the top of the bat head). You can use a sewing needle or the end of a small pair of scissors to do this. Insert the black yard or thread through the two holes and tie off to form a hanging loop. Glue on the wiggle eyes to the bat head. If you do not have wiggle eyes, draw eyes on white paper, cut them out and glue those on instead. You bat is ready to hang! Toilet Paper Roll BatCardboard toilet paper rolls are a common household item. Instead of trying to find a cardboard recycle station, get creative and reuse these tubes. Supplies Needed To Make A Recycled Toilet Paper Roll Bat
Using your imagination or the pre-printed template in the photo below, cut out two bat wings and two bat ears from the black construction paper and set these aside. Using the black marker, color the toilet paper tube black. If you prefer, you can cover it with black construction paper and glue instead. For small children, marker is easier. Glue the wings to the back of the roll and the ears to the inside, top of the tube. Glue wiggle eyes or pre-made paper eyes on the front of the tube just below the ears. Use white-out or white paint to make fangs and a mouth below the eyes. You can leave your bat free standing or attach a loop of black thread or yarn to the back of the tube for hanging. Glue in place or punch a hole through the tube with your scissors and thread the yarn through the hole. Happy Green Halloween!
