Photo Scanner

Do I need one for scrapbooking?

I went to the store to have copies and enlargements made of some photos. I walked out of there feeling like I should have bought stock in the company.

We have all spent so much money to get copies of photos. The last time it cost me $40.00. That was the last straw. For a few dollars more I could get a scanner and copy my own photos.

I had been eyeing a scanner in the store. Unlike most people, I have never owned a scanner. I just never had a need for one. When it comes to technology, I love it but feel as if I don't know enough to make an educated decision.

As I shopped, I learned a few things. The first thing you need to do is make sure it would be compatible with your printer and computer. Then you have to decide if you want one of those that faxes, copies, and e-mails or if you want the basic 'just scan the picture to my computer' model. I am leery of getting one of those all in one fax, scanner, printer, copiers. If one component dies, how will the other components be affected? If a part broke and I had to take it in for repair, I would loose access to everything while it is in the shop. I also don't like the idea of having an all in one with one part broken and a component to replace the broken part.

Scanners are not a crafting necessity. They are however, very convenient and useful.

You can copy anything. You will save money everytime you use it. You will also be able to make mom and grandma happy by making them copies without breaking the bank.

Before owning the scanner I would get ideas that would require multiple prints from one picture to alter, manipulate, and dissect. When I got those great ideas, I would think twice before actually trying them because of the expense and inconvenience. Like you I have a very busy life.

I now get to kick start my creativity by trying all the projects I set aside. Write me with the ideas you have from using your scanners.

If you don't have a scanner yet, not to worry. Print this off and leave it in your husband/boyfriends shoe. I have it on good authority that he would love to know exactly what you really want.
