Do you want nice Easter eggs? Do you want average or ordinary Easter eggs? Or do you want Fabulous and Lush Easter eggs?
If you answered fabulous and lush, Denise Hopper's "Making Faberge Style Eggs" is a must for your library. She shows you how to recreate the luxurious eggs that can only be displayed on a gold pedestal. The eggs are ornate with loads of gold trim and gold ornamentation. These eggs are in no way ordinary. The book is a real treasure. I have, like most, admired the ornate Faberge style eggs from afar. Ms. Hopper gives you the ability to make them for gifts for your friends and family and bring them right into your own house and onto your own table. She shows you how to make eggs that hinge open and are lined in rich fabric to pillow whatever treasure is hidden inside. She includes directions for all different cuts to the egg and gives examples of what you can do with the pieces to create masterpieces. The cover of the book gives a hint at the ideas you will find inside. There are three very different jewelry box style eggs, an egg that opens completely to surprise you with a cherub, a tiny baby cradle with a baby in it, and the centerpiece is a clock. That's right a clock. You really have to see this book to really appreciate the possibilities. What I appreciated most about this book is that she doesn't assume everyone is an expert that comes with loads of knowledge and experience. She begins the book with explaining cuts, glues, hardware, transfers, paint and embellishments. She really allows the novice to be the master. This book is a definite must have for any crafter. It is an idea book but over time it will be a reference book for you to return to over and over again. Denise Hopper makes eggs into masterpieces but she did it again with her book. Check it out at their website. This is one of my all time favorites. Definitely in my top ten list. Try any of the designs below already published and watch for more. You can also try
