Make a Recycled Magazine Card Address FileUse Subscription Cards from Publications to Create an Address Box
Most magazines are stuffed with postcards for subscriptions and other offers. Recycle these cards into something useful by making a file for important addresses!
Magazines are full of postcards to send in for subscriptions, for free offers, or to purchase merchandise. These cards are usually tossed aside as garbage. However, they can quickly and easily be upcycled into a practical and inexpensive file for keeping important contact information such as addresses and phone numbers. There are many ways that these cards can be cut and filed. One of the cheapest and simplest ways to assemble a recycled magazine subscription card address file is by using a small box intended for organizing business cards. These business card file boxes can be purchased cheaply at most office supply stores. Supplies:
Directions:
Some boxes may bot come with tabbed alphabet dividers. These can be easily made by again using a business card as a template, adding a tab shape to the top of the card before cutting out the shape. The dividers can be cut from any recycled scrap paper, but work best when cut from heavier stock. Cereal boxes, old file folders, and many other scraps of heavy paper are all ideal. An old Rolodex can also be used for creating a recycled magazine subscription card address file. Use a card from the Rolodex as a template for cutting the recycled cards for the file. Continue as with the business card file, cutting enough cards to fill the Rolodex. Any appropriately sized box will work as well. Try using a cigar box as another alternative, cutting a card template to custom fit inside of the box and creating tabbed dividers in the appropriate size as well. Optionally, customize the finished address file box by decorating the exterior of the box. Glue an assortment of small items to the box for embellishment, or make a thoughtful, useful gift by decoupaging the box with images that are meaningful to the recipient. The possibilities for the outside of the box are endless!
