Let it Snow

Christmas Decorating for the Snow Bunny In All of Us

Do you love the snow? Do you look forward to watching the fat flakes through frosted windows? This one is for you.

We will decorate your tree from top to bottom.

Tree skirt

This is for an unlined tree skirt. It could easily be adapted to have it lined or quilted.

Fold the blue felt into quarters. Make a note of where the center is. On the farthest corner from the center cut the edge to round it. When you open up the felt if it is wavy instead of a round circle that is all right. The directions will work the same way.

Fold the White piece into quarters. Refold the blue piece and place it on the white with the center corners together and folds facing the same direction. Cut the white to match the blue. Now trim the center corner by cutting away a curved triangle approximately 4 inches deep. Open the blue and the white felt pieces and lay them on top of each other. Make sure that all of the curves and angles match. Trim to match them where necessary.

Now go back to just the blue and with it opened up, trim 1 ½ inches off of the bottom sides and top. Set these aside for now.

Using your paper, fold it in half and in half again until you have it in eighths. Cut it here and there to create a snowflake effect. This is the same as when you were a child. The only difference is this is going to be a pattern instead of the final result.

Open the paper up. When you are satisfied with your snowflake lay it on the royal blue felt and trace in regular intervals or in a random scattered pattern. Cut them out. Don’t worry about any pen marks showing. We will use the penned side as our back.

Once the snowflakes are all cut out, lay the blue felt on top of the white felt so there is an even border of white all the way around the blue and white snowflakes showing through the cut areas. Hot glue between the two layers to secure. You can add silver pipe cleaners to outline the snowflakes by just bending and hot gluing them into place. If you are uncomfortable cutting the snowflakes out of the blue felt, use the adhesive white felt squares and cut out the snowflakes, peal off the backing and stick. These can be trimmed also if you choose.

The final touch is to cover the tree in blue lights. It looks great.
