Spend Halloween day creating easy spiders, spooks, and ghosts before the evening candy haunt.
Keep Halloween party guests busy with these easy craft activities, coloring pages, and a free-form craft station.
Halloween Rock Painting
Paint Halloween masterpieces on rocks found in the garden.
Items Needed:
Large, flat rocks
Poster paints in assorted colors
Paintbrushes
Wiggle Eyes
Liquid glue
Paper plates
Cups of water
Paper towels or washable cloth towels
Directions:
Use one plate for every four party guests.
Squeeze a small amount of each color of paint onto plate and set in middle of table.
Beside plates, lay out paintbrushes, cups of water, and paper towels.
Fill two cups with wiggle eyes and place in middle of table.
Have participants paint designs such as spiders or ghosts on top of the rocks.
Set aside to dry.
Once paint has dried, glue Wiggle Eyes on in place.
Halloween Ghosts
Most items for this activity may already be found around the home.
Items Needed:
Assortment of Styrofoam balls
Old newspaper
White plastic garbage bags, smallest size available such as 4 gallon
Old white sheets
Black marker
Twist ties or yarn
Safety pins
Directions:
Prepare sheets by cutting them into large square shapes.
Crumple the newspaper into balls of assorted sizes.
Take one garbage bag and tie each corner of the bottom of the bag together.
Take one ball of crumpled newspaper and place inside garbage bag.
Tie the neck closed directly underneath the newspaper using a piece of yarn.
Color eyes and mouth onto the bag using the black marker.
Wrap twist tie or yarn around the loop at the top of the ghost head, created by the knotted corners. This will be used to hang the ghost.
For smaller ghosts, use one of the cut squares of sheet and one Styrofoam ball.
Place one Styrofoam ball inside the fabric.
Tie the neck closed using yarn.
Insert safety pin into fabric at the top of the head.
Color eyes and mouth on using marker.
Attach a length of yarn into safety pin.
Halloween Lollipop Spiders
This activity is easy enough for toddlers and offers a delicious reward.
Items Needed:
Lollipops, assorted
Black pipe cleaners
Liquid glue
Directions:
Take one lollipop and four pipe cleaners.
Center one of the pipe cleaners directly underneath the candy part of the lollipop.
Wind the pipe cleaner around the stick several times.
Continue with three other pipe cleaners.
Hold in place with a drop of glue, if necessary.
Bend pipe cleaners to form legs.
Along with these organized craft stations, set up a separate table where guests can create without restrictions. Include Halloween coloring pages, blank drawing paper, construction paper, scissors, crayons, markers, glue, wiggle eyes, pipe cleaners, feathers, pom-poms, and other craft accessories, such as rubber Halloween stamps or stickers.
These simple, inexpensive Halloween activities will give Halloween spooks an assortment of creative crafts to show off in addition to the customary candy collection.
