Label Plants with Garden RocksPaint the name of your flowers and vegetables onto decorative stones and place thorughout the patch.
Have you ever had someone ask you the names of the plants in your garden? The larger the garden gets, the harder it is to remember all of the names.
I prided myself in knowing the names of all of the plants and flowers in my garden. As the garden grew, so did the difficulty in remembering the names. I decided to create a cheat sheet of sorts. When my husband and I travel, we always collected a rock from each location (4-6")and put it in a basket. I knew I would use them for something one day. Everything is a potential craft project. I purchased 'puffy paint'. It comes in a bottle with a nozzle so you can write with it. After washing all of the rocks, I wrote the name of a plant or flower on each one. Allowing the paint 24 hours to dry, I then put a rock under each of the plants. Now when people ask me the name of a particular flower, I lean in and read the rock. They all think I am brilliant. It will be our little secret. Don't forget to visit all of the garden sites at Suite 101 for more ideas. Copyright 2006, Mary Welling-Bonney & Suite 101. All rights reserved.
