Finish Unfinished Craft ProjectsNo more "UFOs" - Tip for Organizing Your Time and CraftsDo you start a project and find it difficult to complete? Here's how to turn your works-in-progress into completed craft works.
Do you have a closet full of half finished projects? You are not alone. So many crafters begin a crossstitch, afghan, rug, or some other project with such good intentions. Many Christmas crafts are begun in January, yet can't seem to get completed by the following December. Here is a trick you can use to insure projects are done and handy. First get a tote bag. Even if you have twenty, buy a new one. People tend to have a particular style running through all of the items they own, including tote bags. Buy one that is not your usual style. It won't blend into the crowd. In this way you will be able to locate it quickly. Put everything you need for your project in this bag. Include scissors, needles, yarn, glue gun and sticks, crochet hooks, or any other equipment or materials you might need. Even include a pair of reading glasses if you use them for detail work. Now comes the hard part. You cannot use the items in this bag for anything else. Need a pair of scissors? Make sure there is another pair available. The same goes for everything else in your bag. Never remove anything from it unless you are working on this particular project. Place your tote in a place where it is handy at a moment's notice. Have to go sit in a doctor's waiting room? Is he or she known for keeping you waiting for an hour? You have just gained an hour of project time. Grab your bag as you are heading out the door. Do the same when you are going on a long road trip, going to be sitting in the emergency room, going to be stuck in a remote location or spending time in a hotel room. Grab the bag. You will find instead of being bored you will gain project time. Your projects that never got done will get completed and as you complete a project you can replace it with another. If you are one of those people that can't work on just one project, not to worry. Put more than one project in your bag so you can switch off when you need to. You will find you are not only completing projects, your frustration level at being kept waiting doesn't ignite. You instead can appreciate the gift of some time to spend on your work of art. Now when you go to the doctor's, just think of it as crafting time with a checkup thrown in for good measure.
