Are you having family and friends over for the Fourth of July? Make your table the talk of the neighborhood.
This is a festive touch for your outdoor or indoor table that will take a little preparation for a big pay off. This is a no sew project that looks like a million bucks. Materials Needed:
Cut off one three-yard length of red and white striped fabric. Cutting the long way divide the fabric in half so you have two pieces approx. 9’ X 1 ½’. These are for the bench seats. Lay one piece over each bench seat. Gather at the corners folding the fabric over the edges. Wrap a rubber band around the gathered corner fabric to keep it in place. Repeat for all of the corners. Cut the remaining one-yard of red and white striped fabric into three equal parts measuring 1 yard by 12 inches. Using the stitch witchery, attach the pieces end to end to form one piece 3 yards by one foot. This will be your table runner. Open up the navy fabric and lay it over the table as your tablecloth. Gather the corners as you did for the bench seats and rubber band them taut. This will keep it from blowing away in a good wind. You can use the optional ribbon to cover the corner fabric clusters with bows. Now lay the runner the long way down the table. Place a mason jar at equal intervals all the way down the runner. The easiest way to do this by eye is to place one jar in the center of the table. Place a jar on either end about a foot from the edge. Place one between the middle and left end jar and one between the middle and right end jar. Fill the jars 1/3 full of sand. Place a candle in each jar of sand. Use the candle colors to create a pattern down the runner. Sprinkle star confetti lightly in the jars and more generously around the table. You can mound sand right on the table cloth and place the mason jars in the sand for a fun look but be warned. If you have children they will play in it and it will spread. The optional fabric for each chair allows you to add red, white and blue around your deck or pool by just draping a yard of fabric over the back of the chair. Gather and secure with a rubber band on each side at the bottom. If you want to reuse the decor, try finding the fabric in the vinyl section of your fabric store. Happy Fourth of July
