Here is a quick trick to make really attractive and sturdy end tables.

Here is a cute idea for making your own end table. Do you have some cute boxes that you like to stack up and add a lamp and a book for an end table. The problem is they can't hold any weight and you have to be very careful they never get bumped. Here is a solution to the problem.

Materials Needed:

  1. Plaster of paris (two 5 gallon pails)
  2. three hat boxes (or any cute boxes or containers)
  3. three plastic garbage bags
  4. bucket

I would recommend doing this outside.

Line the inside of the boxes with plastic using the garbage bags. Mix the plaster in the bucket and pour it into the boxes. If the box is thin and begins to bow, pour in a small amount of plaster and let it set. Once set, pour in a small amount and let it set. Continue this process all the way to the top. Allow to dry for 24 hours. Put the lids on the boxes and stack. You now have a strong, solid end table. You can restack them in a different order as the mood strikes you.
