Craft shows are a fun way to make a little money, but all crafters should know the basics.
Craft shows are the best place to sell handmade items. Many crafters will start with craft shows to start to make money with their crafts, but inexperienced crafters will not know exactly what can make their booth stand out from the others. Getting Things TogetherThe first step on your craft show journey is to get your items together. This may be something as simple as a plastic tub that essentials are kept in. Crafters can keep their duct tape, extra pens, paper, note cards, price sheets, business cards and anything else that might be needed in this tub and just either leave it in the car or vehicle that is being used to attend craft shows or in the same area as other crafting supplies may be. That way it will not get left behind. Be Nice To The NeighborsWhen crafters get together, usually one of two things happens. They will get along with their neighbor at the craft show and have a great time talking during the slow parts of the show, or they will have a neighbor that crowds into another crafter's space or makes it hard for their neighbors to sell their products at the show. If a crafter is taking up to much space around them, they are going to cause the others to feel angry and no one will have a good time at the show. Remember ColorColors are very important when creating a booth for crafts. A good crafter will still need colors that help their products to stand out against the other crafters that are at the show. When designing a booth, crafters should think about what they are selling and how it would look against a certain color. If they are not sure, try a new color. Eventually the right one will be found. LightingLights can help to show what the product is that a crafter has. If they are displaying jewelry, they will need much more light to show the detail in their work, but all crafters need the right lighting to make a good impact in the show that they are doing. It may be a good idea to have lighting in the tub that is taken to craft shows, so that there is always a good source of lighting available to the crafter. Signs and PricingSigns are something that is very important to the customer. They like to know what they are going to spend and where they can get what they want at the show. If a crafter has very clear signs and makes them neat and tidy, they will probably have better luck selling their products than one that does not. Also crafters should consider marking all of their products with a price so that a customer can see easily what they are going to be spending on a product. Craft shows are a fun way to make a little bit of money and some crafters can make their living with them. If a crafter were getting ready to make the shift to shows, the best advice would be to research the ones in the area and find a good one to start with. Then they will have the best time and make the most money.
