Holiday Hostess Gift

You have been invited to a neighbors house for the holiday. You didn't anticipate the invitation and have no gift or time to shop. What do you do?

I love to make these for the holidays because all of the people I have given these too are thrilled with the enhancement to their holiday spread.

The bread wreath is not only festive and attractive, it is functional and makes a boring table of food into an artistic arrangement.

To start, mix up separately the dough for rye bread, pumpernickel bread and white bread. I choose these ones for the contrast in color but you can choose any three you like. Once all of the breads are kneaded and have risen, roll each one out into a 2" snake.

Take one end of each flavor and pinch them together. Now gently braid the breads. When you get to the other end, pinch it into the beginning. Bake on a cookie sheet as you would a loaf of bread. Keep an eye on it and remove from oven when it is golden brown. Butter the tops of the bread to add a glisten and attach a poinsetta or bow at the pinch where the breads begin and end.

As the bread (wreath) is sliced, each slice will have all three breads included. Make one for your own house. Include dried tomatos for even more color.

Enjoy, have fun and Happy Holidays from Crafts@Suite101.com
