Artful Eggs by Terry Taylor was such a surprise. Even when I first picked it up, I thought it was cute to show pearl embellished eggs. I opened the book and wanted to read it cover to cover. This is fresh and new. Terry Taylor gave us an original in every way. This does not mean that the six dozen methods for decorating eggs are all original treatments. It does mean they are original to the egg.
Sound confused? Let me explain.
Have you ever done mosaic tiling? (If you haven't, you must visit my mosaic tiling article.) I have done many pieces using tile and grout. It never in a million years occurred to me to mosaic tile an egg. What a great idea!
Ms. Taylor uses transfers, decoupage, polymer clay, specialty yarns, paint, foam, tissue paper, rubber-stamping and even gold leaf to decorate eggs in new methods for the new products.
Many of her projects use only everyday items from around the house while others require specific materials. This gives you the ability to try out a few projects before investing. It also gives you the ability to continue exploring media. Someone who considers himself or herself a part-time hobby crafter or the advanced crafter will each be challenged at their own level.
