Do you have those packages of left over letters that you will never use from buying prepackaged alphabets? Time to make your own.

Have you bought any of the prepackaged alphabets for scrapbooking? They have some very beautiful sets. The problem is, I end up with partial sets of weird letters. I already mixed and matched them to use up all the letters I could. It was then I decided to start making my own. The first letters I made took very little time and very little effort and look wonderful. Here is what I did.

  • Materials Needed:
  • 1/8 yard of canvas
  • scissors
  • Permanent marker-your choice of color
  • glue
  • optional-grommetsCut out as many rectangles (1"x1 1/2") as you will have letters for what you want to spell. I was doing a two page spread of my grandson's first experience with spaghetti so I wanted the letters to span across two pages. On all four sides of each rectangle, fray sides by removing threads. Using your permanent marker write a letter on each rectangle. Use glue or grommets to attach.Do it yourself scrapbook suppliesMore scrapbookinghomemade stampers-Beer budgethomemade stampers-champagne budgetmaking your own giftbagsmake your own stencilTip of the week-Try making them with different shapes, fabrics, or colors. Try a burlap when doing a page about the great outdoors. Get creative.
