6 Unique Gift Basket IdeasCreative Personal Themes for the Best Christmas Present
Here are six creative gift basket ideas that are both unique and personal. Each present idea can reflect the personal relationship between giver and receiver.
The themed gift basket is one of the best Christmas gifts. They are fun to open and go through, but they are also incredibly personal. Each piece of the gift is selected with a purpose that corresponds with the person who receives it. Rather than some generic collection of gifts, or whatever happens to be popular at the time, the gift basket reflects the relationship between the giver and receiver. Unfortunately, coming up with a theme is not easy. A quick search online pulls up the same ideas over and over again. Here, then, are five unique gift basket ideas that make the best Christmas gifts (or the best gift for any occasion). For more on putting together themed gift baskets, see Giving Themed Gift Baskets as Christmas Presents. The Acronym Gift BasketTake the person’s name and find one gift for each letter in that name. For example, if the person’s name is Erin, you can include an Electronic device, a Rainbow-colored shirt, a jar of Instant coffee, and a box of Now & Later candy. The card attached to the basket should explain how each gift represents one letter of the name. The TV-Show Gift BasketIf you share a favorite television show with the person, use that as a theme. Include one gift per major character on the show. Each individual present can represent the sensibility of that character. Consider making stickers of the characters to put on their respective gift items. The Color Gift BasketThis one is perhaps the most simple of all of them. If you know the person’s favorite color, make every gift in the basket (including the basket and decorations themselves) that color. Several websites provide so-called “Color Personality Readings” free. Print out the personality reading for the person’s favorite color and incorporate that into the basket. The Story Theme Gift BasketIf you have many unrelated gifts, write a story that incorporates each of them. When the gift is being given as a grab bag, it is fun to have the recipient read the story aloud and then open the present. Suddenly, the whole story makes sense as the person pulls out each element of it. This is also a great idea when you want to make a themed gift for someone you do not know very well. The Young-at-Heart Gift BasketIn every adult is a curious, fun-loving child. Assemble a gift basket with items like yo-yos, silly putty, and comic books. If you knew the person as a kid, try to find the kinds of toys and candies you both enjoyed. The Around-the-World Gift Basket If the person loves to travel, an around-the-world basket is appropriate. The basket might include a world atlas and small gifts that represent places the person has yet to go. For example, you could give gift certificates for a local ethnic restaurant, a foreign film on DVD, or a foreign language phrase book. HOL101
